WAVE Trauma Centre (HIA) and Advice NI will deliver a range of support and bespoke services across Northern Ireland (NI) and will also ensure that survivors living outside of NI have access to the support and services that they need.  Services have been designed with HIA groups and others to ensure that they are client-led, readily accessible and responsive to the needs of survivors.

On the 1st December 2020, WAVE Trauma Centre together with the Victims and Survivors Service (VSS), launched a new service dedicated to supporting the health and wellbeing of survivors of Historical Institutional Abuse (HIA).

The Historical Institutional Abuse (Northern Ireland) Act 2019 was enacted for anyone who has suffered abuse as a child whilst resident in an institution in Northern Ireland at any time between 1922 and 1995 (inclusive).
