Support Services available for the HIA apology from the 11th-13th March

This Friday, 11th March 2022, a public apology will be offered to survivors of historical institutional abuse by government and each of the institutions named in the Hart Inquiry to acknowledge the abuse, neglect and harm suffered by victims and survivors. This will take place in Parliament Building in Belfast.

We know this will be a difficult and emotional process for many. We will be there on the day offering emotional support and we are also here before, during and after the apology. In addition to our usual hours of 9 to 5 Monday to Thursday and 9 – 4.30 on Friday, we will also be offering the following additional support:

With a help/support line running from 4:30pm to 8pm on Friday the 11th and on Saturday and Sunday the 12th and 13th from 10am until 4pm. You can access this by calling 02890779922. WAVE Belfast will be open on Saturday 12th March from 10-4pm. On Sunday WAVE Derry Londonderry will open from 10-4pm. Staff will be available for support. If support is needed outside these times Lifeline provided 24-hour counselling on 0808-808-8000.
